at the Yew Mountain Center in Hillsboro, WV.
Due to reasons of safety, the WV Forest Farming Expo was reschedule to May 22 & 23. If you registered for the May workshops, refunds will be issued or your fee will be applied to the event next year. We will work to keep the program similar to the one advertised and we will likely add even more! You can still apply for mini-grants and sign up for site visits, likely beginning mid June. See "Resources" section on this website. Please check back for updates. And be well in the woods, friends!
Attend workshops on propagating, growing, harvesting, and using plants like ginseng and ramps for food and medicine. Tour a forest farm. Learn how forest farming can conserve and rejuvenate woodlands while generating agricultural income.
Farming in the Shade
Growing our NTFP Economy
Non-Timber Forest Products, or NTFPs, are crops that are harvested from forests without cutting the trees. These products include edible, medicinal, and decorative plants, mushrooms, tree saps, and honey from bees that forage on trees. By cultivating these crops, West Virginians can earn premium prices for their harvests while conserving and renewing wild woodland ecosystems.
